Arizona Mining and Mineral Museum

The Deer Valley Rock Art Center features over 1,500 petroglyphs, or rock etchings, carved by Indians centuries ago. Visitors can view the petroglyphs via a guided or self-guided tour along a quarter-mile trail within the 47-acre site.

Downtown Phoenix received a face lift during the 90s, and in 2000 the area was named Copper Square. New aesthetics include wall murals depicting downtown history and copper-painted street fixtures. Taking place the first Saturday of every month are Copper Penny Days, when participating Copper Square businesses offer "buy one, get something for a penny" specials. Performing arts and visual arts venues are located in Copper Square, as is the Arizona Center. This complex includes many shops and restaurants set in a garden atmosphere with fountains and walkways. The Arizona Center also features a 24-screen movie theatre and several nightclubs.

Heritage Square is a downtown city block that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This area features a collection of historic buildings dating back to the late 1800's. Carefully restored homes have been decorated according to their time period and are open for tours.

Mystery Castle

The 18-room Mystery Castle was built during the 1930s and ‘40s from recycled materials and old bricks. Boyce Luther Gulley built the folk-art mansion in honor of his daughter, who lives there today and conducts tours of the home.
